Singer and songwriter Marisa Liz joins the Iolanda artist to release the new single “Contratempo“. The song, marked by an intense collaboration between the two, explores the nuances and challenges of living with intensity, dealing with restlessness and the desire to embrace the present moment.
“Contratempo“ is born from a creative process in which Marisa Liz and Iolanda met in the search for a common voice to express an urgent experience, which also reflects the differences and relations between both. “This song speaks a little bit about how we feel,” explains Marisa. “I, with my ADHD [Hyperactivity and Attention Deficit Disorder] disorder, often feel the mind and body in constant motion. The iolanda also identified with this restlessness, which united us in this creation. Although we all see different colours in the world and look at things with our own very own gaze, it is possible to try to understand how others see things, because we can learn a lot from this exercise.”
For Iolanda, the partnership was an experience of sharing and empathy that goes beyond words. “This theme was born of a mutual need to express a certain restlessness to live each moment to the maximum and sometimes to live them all at the same time. From the first minute, I felt a connection with Marisa and felt that the short relationship we created led us to explore the sound you can hear in ‘Contrampo’. I feel that this theme is the demonstration of what it is to live with some anxiety for feeling different, in a world where it is necessary to approach the other more and more, even if he feels, hears and sees differently. Sharing is peace, and difference is what makes life beautiful”, says the singer.
The production of “Contratempo” was in charge of Guilherme Salgueiro, and the composition has the creative contributions of Marisa Liz, Iolanda and Diogo Branco. The lyrics are by both artists. On the acoustic guitar Francisco Sales, electric guitar was in charge of Luar, on bass GussWhat, José Salgueiro on percussion, Victoria Salamova and Helena Silva on violins, Precilia Diamantino on viola and Carolina Rodrigues on cello.
This single arrives to the public accompanied by an impressive official video, made by André Tentugal and with the concept developed also by Marisa Liz and Iolanda, reinforcing the visual and sound union of this partnership.
With “Contratempo“, Marisa Liz and Iolanda invite the audience to reflect on the importance of empathy, sharing and meeting each other, despite their differences.
