After the confirmation of the show Seu Jorge and Daniel Jobim ‘Cantam Tom Jobim‘, with the first part in charge of Rua das Pretas, it is time to add the name of Marisa Monte to a poster that hopes to welcome more luxury names to be announced in soon.
The Brazilian singer comes to Portugal and days after the concert scheduled for the undefeated city, on June 28, at the Super Bock Arena, she performs in this festival whose atmosphere perfectly matches her music, full of class and charm. Therefore, on July 5th, in Oeiras, the Portuguese public can enjoy the classics of all time and also the novelties that Marisa Monte brings in her luggage, fruits of the new album “Portas”.
Born in Rio de Janeiro, on July 1, 1967, Marisa Monte showed interest in music from an early age and, as a child, took piano and drum lessons. She listened to Maria Callas and Billie Holiday as well as Carmen Miranda and Brazilian music. At the age of 18, she moved to Rome, willing to further her studies in opera singing. Right after his first appearance at Jazzmania, in Rio de Janeiro, in September 1987, the repercussions were enormous. The new sensation of the Brazilian music scene was found.
She quickly became known to both younger rock audiences and more adult jazz and MPB audiences. “MM” (1989), the first album, featured samba, jazz, black music, blues, soul, bossa nova and rock. The release of her second album “Mais” (1991), with the first partnerships with Nando Reis and Arnaldo Antunes, revealed Marisa Monte as a composer and with a very unique style, which reflected her multiple musical influences. Since then, the successes have followed one after the other, thanks to classic records such as “Barulhinho Bom”, “Memories, Chronicles, and Declarations of Love”, “Infinito Particular” and “Universo ao Meu Redor”, records that confirmed Marisa as one of the biggest, most cherished and most respected names in Brazilian music. In 2022, after numerous partnerships, Marisa joined Carlinhos Brown and Arnaldo Antunes to release the album “Tribalistas”. The record’s success was national and international, offering the public a collection of hits such as “Já Sei Namorar”, “Velha Childhood” or “Passe em Casa”.
