Mark Knopfler says world tour that passes through Lisbon is the last

The musician Mark Knopfler announced that the world tour that began on Thursday in Barcelona will be the last of a career that has taken him to the main stages on a global scale, by Dire Straits or solo.

The show began with “Why aye man” and as soon as the first song ended, the Scotsman addressed the audience to ensure that he was very happy to return to Barcelona, ​​but added that “Hello Barcelona” is also a goodbye.

“I’m old,” said the musician who will be 70 years old this summer.

A group of ten musicians accompanied Knopfler at the Palau Sant Jordi, which will be repeated throughout the world tour that began on Thursday in Barcelona and will take you to five other Spanish cities in Lisbon at the Altice Arena on Tuesday, and the rest of Europe, before heading to the United States.

The tour is aimed at presenting the guitarist’s latest album, “Down the Road Wherever,” but the Scotsman also included in the repertoire songs from others of his solo albums and some of his biggest hits with Dire Straits.
