Marvel announces first gay Captain America
Marvel will launch the first homosexual Captain America. The new comic book series marks the 80th anniversary of the American superhero and will be launched in June, Pride Month in the United States.
The new version of the story begins with the four previous captains – Steve Rogers, Sam Wilson, Bucky Barnes and John Walker – in search of Captain America’s famous shield. During this adventure, they come across characters who were inspired by the legends of that superhero to help other people.
One of them is the young Aaron Fischer, admittedly homosexual, and described as a fearless teenager, who protects the homeless, and whom he identifies as “Captain America of the Railways”.
The first images revealed by Marvel also show that the new hero has tattoos, piercings and earrings and that he wears a suit inspired by Captain America.
The series will also feature other characters who were inspired by the legends of Captain America to help the community.
