Matay announces debut album “Espelho”

Next Friday, March 1st, Matay will release Espelho, his highly anticipated debut album. The album was entirely produced by AGIR, who also wrote most of the compositions, also featuring songs written by Calema and Matias Damásio.

The lineup includes the recent hits “Eu Quero e Deus Sabe” and “Que Faz” (feat. Matias Damásio), to which eight new songs are added. With influences that travel between soul and gospel, never denying his African roots, Espelho is the pinnacle of the work that Matay has been cementing in recent years.

“This album talks about me, about my stories! Some I experienced, others I heard about! It’s my mirror! Here I sing what I am, without reservations! If you want to get to know me a little better, just listen. The things I like, my strengths and my weaknesses are exposed here. Espelho is the great journey of my life, music, family, my career, love and its differences over time! I am confident!”

One of the most unmistakable performers today, Matay made himself known in “Dizer Que Não” (2015), where he collaborated with Dengaz, having subsequently released several successful songs such as “O Que Tu Dás” (2017) and “Confia” (2020). “Pelo Meio”, in 2019, reached third place in the famous and acclaimed participation in the Festival da Canção with “Perfeito”, a song written by Boss AC and composed by Tiago Machado.

On a journey of constant ascension as an interpreter under his name, Matay introduces us to his world in Espelho. It is accompanied by a new single, “Não Deu”, a calling card for a long-awaited album.
