Matthew Halsall live in Portugal for Misty Fest
Matthew Halsall is, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the greatest references of the new British jazz. With a sound that draws on the spiritual jazz of Alice Coltrane and Pharoah Sanders, as well as world music, electronic influences and even modern art and architecture, to create something uniquely its own.
Salute to the Sun, his latest album, is touted as a contemporary landmark of more spiritual jazz and is also the basis for his sophisticated new show, with the trumpeter and multi-instrumentalist performing at the front of a sextet of amazing musicians from the new school of English jazz.
