Singer-songwriter Maya Blandy is releasing the album “Stardust Deluxe”, an exclusive edition that includes Portuguese and English songs, and a version of “Guarda-me esta Noite” by Valter Lobo. The album was released in the UK in May, with only songs in English, and was acclaimed by British critics.
Along with this release Maya also presents the single “Loving in My Life” which is sung in Portuguese and English.
After the release of the singles “Calor”, “Em tuas Mãos” and “À la Luz da Lua”, during this summer, Maya, who was born in Australia but has lived in Madeira since childhood, fuses soul rhythms and melodies, rhythm and blues, with the contagious energy of disco, the timeless appeal of pop and the sincere essence of soul and jazz. The young artist is inspired by artists such as Sade, Diana Ross, Donna Summer, Amy Winehouse, Michael Jackson, Elton John, among others.
The album, produced and written in partnership with Jake Wherry (of the band The Herbaliser) features American record legend Kathy Brown, Canadian rapper Muneshine and some of the best session musicians in the UK including Adam Phillips (Tina Turner, Richard Ashcroft, Britney Spears) Trevor Mires (Incognito, Sir Tom Jones, Jamiroquai) Patrick Dawes (Groove Armada) and award-winning trumpeter Ryan Quigley (John Scofield, Joe Lovano).
Maya Blandy was recently chosen by Emirates Airlines as part of their in-flight entertainment, on all flights around the world, serving an average of 5 million passengers per month. Maya has her own playlist titled “Stardust”. In On Flight magazine, they say that “the debut of the rising star is a remarkable demonstration of its versatility”.
