The MEDUSA unit is an ensemble that continues the solo project (for cello, electronics and resonant objects) that Ricardo Jacinto has been presenting since 2014. This project included the development of an electroacoustic device that, using a system of amplification with microphones distributed at different points of the cello and a multichannel diffusion system with several contact loudspeakers coupled to resonant objects, allowed exploring the possibility of fragmentation and sonic dispersion of its actions in the body of the instrument, articulating its microscopic auscultation with landscape sound and acoustics of the surrounding space.

With a variable formation, but always composed of interpreters-improvisers, this unit continues to pursue the initial premises of the project, now also focused on the possibilities of hybridization of several acoustic instruments through an electroacoustic system of resonant interaction, where the interferences and networks of feedback are the basis for a music rooted in minimalism and spectralism, articulating composition and improvisation.

We count on your collaboration in publicizing this concert, which will present a repertoire of four pieces (Umbra, Penumbra, Antumbra, and Hino a Caríbdis) adapted to a sound and light device designed specifically for the stage of the Grand Auditorium.
