The Meliá Braga Hotel & Spa is the first unit of the Hoti Hotéis Group to complete the “Stay safe with Meliá” certification by Bureau Veritas, which guarantees the best prevention practices against Covid-19, according to the most international standards and recommendations demanding.
Considered a case study of hospitality in Portugal, the unit has been contacted by several Tourism Schools that want to analyze this adaptation to the new pandemic reality.
Started in May, the certification of Meliá Braga resulted from a transversal process of adaptation of the Hotel, which changed and redesigned many of the procedures and facilities, to guarantee the maximum safety of guests and employees.
This Certification by Bureau Veritas thus gives a high level of security to the procedures adopted in conjunction with Meliá Hotels International, highlighting the correct adaptation of operating processes to the current context, minimizing the risks derived from covid-19.
At the Meliá Braga Hotel & Spa, new elements of physical security were implemented, new passage circuits to guarantee the necessary physical distance, equipment and hygiene and disinfection products, new concepts of gastronomy, food and drinks, which allow sanitary security, always maximizing quality and customer experience.
The certification process also devotes attention to digitization in contact with the Customer, allowing a wide range of information and choices, using screens and QR codes. Hotel staff have received intensive training programs to ensure their in-depth knowledge of the program, giving priority to the positive experience of guests.
Included in the “Stay safe with Meliá” program are all hotels managed in Portugal by Hoti Hoteis with Meliá Hotels International brands, in a total of 11 hotel units, all of which are in an advanced stage of implementation.
Among the hotels with the Meliá Hotels & Resorts brand are, in addition to this hotel, the hotels Meliá Ria Aveiro, Meliá Castelo Branco, Meliá Setúbal and Meliá Madeira Mare. The remaining hotels, which bear the TRYP by Wyndham seal, are TRYP Porto Expo, TRYP Porto Centro, TRYP Leiria, TRYP Lisboa Aeroporto, TRYP Lisboa Oriente and TRYP Lisboa Caparica Mar.
The “Stay safe with Meliá” certification thus guarantees the conformity of processes, commitments on the part of the organization, definition of risks, emergency plans and individual protection, materials available and attention to employees, shifts, capacity of the hotel units, social distance, specific training and training.
The remaining units of the Hoti Hotéis Group in Portugal (Hotel Star inn, Hotel da Música and Madeira Golden Residence brands) are now advancing with the Five Stars certification | Safe Spot, which combines health auditing with consumer experience assessment. This certification is guaranteed by Bureau Veritas methodologies and the Five Star Award.
