MELOM joins the technological platform that aims to revolutionize home repairs

Leader in the residential property construction and remodeling market, MELOM has established a partnership agreement with OSCAR, a technological platform that manages a network of technicians dedicated to performing small services at home, such as changing a lock or replacing a lamps.

With the objective of being the solution to all the problems of a house, whether they are a small installation or a major refurbishment, MELOM decided to join forces with this platform, created in 2019 and accelerated by Startup Braga. The company thus integrates this application, which allows the customer to always know the cost of the service, before placing the order, and in a convenient, fast, and transparent way.

After creating in 2015 the brand ‘Querido Mudei a Casa Obras’ (QMACO), an insignia dedicated to remodeling and interventions in smaller-scale housing, MELOM now includes a network of professionals specialized in carrying out micro-arrangements at home, such as for example repair of bathroom taps, plugging holes in walls, installation of an interior roller shutter, replacement of light bulbs, installation of hood and wardrobe handles locks. In this way, MELOM now guarantees a response to other small services necessary for the proper functioning of a home, but for which there were no professionals in the market to perform them at a fair and closed price.

According to João Carvalho, founder of MELOM, “It made perfect sense that MELOM could integrate the services offered by the OSCAR app in its offer, and our network is now responding to micro repair services.” explains. “Another aspect that motivated us to carry out this partnership was the fact that the platform is very similar to the functioning of MELOM with regard to price communication, that is, in a clear, consistent and transparent way. We therefore believe that we are on the right path to professionalize this area. We will now be able to offer our customers other complementary services, such as changing the lock when buying a house, or other small jobs necessary for the proper functioning of a home“, defends the MELOM manager.

João Marques, founder of OSCAR, stresses that “It is with great satisfaction that we implement this partnership and obtain recognition from a reference brand in the market such as MELOM. The fact that MELOM also participated in our second round of investment, together with Olisipo Way, demonstrates that our future goals are aligned. Together we will be able to respond to all of our customers’ needs.”

Startup OSCAR was founded in December 2019 with the objective of developing and managing a platform for small repair and maintenance services. It participated in Startup Braga’s acceleration program and obtained the first round of investment in January 2020. During the first three months of activity, the platform carried out several tests, with this period being used to develop and adjust the main features of the app, necessary for the official release.

MELOM has now participated in a second round of investment that will be used to increase the team, gain more customers and expand to new cities.
