Metallica release new single “If Darkness Had a Son” and announce global theatrical release party for “72 Seasons”

The UCI UBBO, UCI El Corte Inglés and UCI Arrábida 20 cinemas will host the album launch party on April 13th.

Tickets are now on sale for Metallica’s 12th studio album “72 Seasons” worldwide release party. For one night only, on Thursday, April 13th, “72 Seasons will be played exclusively in cinemas around the world – with each new song accompanied by its own video and exclusive commentary from the band. Fans can also experience Metallica’s music like never before in Dolby Atmos®, an audio experience that will immerse listeners inside each song to reveal details with unparalleled clarity and depth. In Portugal, the event will take place at UCI UBBO, UCI El Corte Inglés, and UCI Arrábida 20 cinemas.

Preceded by the newly released “If Darkness Had a Son”, the “heavy, imposing and unbreakably fortified” (Revolver) new song “Screaming Suicide” and the first single “Lux Æterna” – acclaimed upon its release by Billboard, Rolling Stone and USA Today – “72 Seasons” will be released on April 14th by Blackened Recordings, Metallica’s label and is already available in FNAC pre-orders. Produced by Greg Fidelman with Hetfield & Ulrich, and clocking in at over 77 minutes, the 12-song “72 Seasons” is Metallica’s first studio album since 2016’s “Hardwired…To Self-Destruct”. released on 140g 2LP black vinyl, digital CD, and in Dolby Atmos (streaming where available).

The world premiere of “72 Seasons” sees Metallica and Trafalgar join forces once again, having worked together in the past on the world cinematic release of “Metallica & San Francisco Symphony: S&M²”, which documented the reunion of Metallica and San Francisco. Francisco Symphony to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the original album, “S&M”.
