Multi-platinum-selling artist mgk has just released his seventh studio album, lost americana. Featuring 13 songs, the album is an introspective exploration of the American dream and a journey in search of what was lost.
In this album, mgk reaffirms his signature sound, blending alt-pop rock with emotional guitars and a cinematic production. He collaborated with longtime friends and partners such as SlimXX, BazeXX, Nick Long, No Love To The Middle Child, Travis Barker, and others. The official music video for “Outlaw Overture,” directed by Sam Cahill and Hunter Simmons, is also available with the release.

From August 8th to 10th, mgk celebrates the release of his new album in his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio, with the now-customary MGK Day (the official day is August 13th). The weekend will be dedicated to local culture, with music, food, local vendors, and much more. This year’s edition includes events such as the XX-Con Release Event, a skate session with Street League Skateboarding, an urban ride with Harley Davidson, a celebrity basketball game supported by Monster Energy and Webull (with free admission), culminating in the MGK Day Art + Community Festival.
The anticipation surrounding lost americana has been high. The GRAMMY-nominated artist recently appeared on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” where he performed the singles “Outlaw Overture” and “Vampire Diaries.” Earlier this week, he hosted a surprise show at the intimate Cellar Dog in New York City. The following day, he appeared on the “Today Show” with Jenna Bush Hagar and Matt Rogers, where he announced a free, intimate US tour, featuring shows at alternative venues, to bring lost americana directly to fans.
mgk was also a guest on ABC News‘ “Prime Playlist Shuffle,” where he discussed the themes of reinvention present in lost americana. On “The Pat McAfee Show,” he revealed that the theme “Don’t Expect to Run Fast” (known as “Running Rebel” on the physical versions of the album) will be the official anthem for the 2025-2026 ESPN College Football season. To close out the year, mgk will headline the 30th anniversary edition of the “Vans Warped Tour,” which will take place in Orlando, Florida, on November 15th and 16th. Also in November, he will perform on the Sphere Stage’s Mobile Zone during the FORMULA 1 HEINEKEN LAS VEGAS GRAND PRIX, from the 20th to the 22nd.
The artist became a phenomenon by defying musical conventions with his 2020 album Tickets to My Downfall. The album reached number one on the Billboard 200 chart and went platinum, with 18 songs entering the Hot Rock Songs chart. The singles “Bloody Valentine” and “My Ex’s Best Friend” topped the Alternative Music charts in the US. Its follow-up, Mainstream Sellout, also reached number one on the Billboard 200 and earned him a 2023 GRAMMY nomination for Best Rock Album. The tour behind the album sold out stadiums and arenas in the US and Europe. The closing show of the North American leg, at Huntington Bank Stadium in Cleveland, took place in front of 50,000 fans – making mgk the first and only Ohio-born artist to sell out that venue.
With a constantly evolving sound, mgk continues to redefine what it means to be a truly multidisciplinary artist.
