Micah P Hinson celebrates 20 years of Gospel of Progress album
at Musicbox on May 10th
Micah P Hinson is back in Portugal on May 10th for a one-off show at Musicbox. The reason for the visit is the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the album Micah P Hinson and the Gospel of Progress.
Yes, it’s true, the album that introduced the music and unique world of the American singer and composer, Micah P Hinson, was released 20 years ago. In fact, if we also count the cover album “All Dressed up and Smelling of Strangers”, “Micah P Hinson and the Gospel of Progress” is actually the 7th album of his career that began in 2006.
Micah P Hinson and the Gospel of Progress is the album that contains one of the most successful classics of the American author, Beneath the Rose (more than 14 million streams on Spotify), but also others that rarely fail in a concert such as Close your Eyes, The Possibilities or The Day Texas Sank to the bottom of the Sea.
Interestingly, the Musicbox stage is not at all unfamiliar to Micah P Hinson, given that the artist’s first show in Portugal after a long absence was in that very room in November 2017. He returned to that same room in January 2019, followed by a tour in early 2020 that passed through Porto, Vila Real, Guarda and Portalegre. Last year, Micah P Hinson performed for the first time a concert with just voice and piano at the Cerveira ao Piano Festival.
