Microsoft HoloLens 2: 24-hour event empowers doctors and surgeons worldwide
Microsoft today organizes a 24-hour event with the participation of 15 surgeons from 13 different countries, who will present orthopedic operations using HoloLens 2 and Dynamics 365 Remote Assist. The event will demonstrate how these technologies are empowering doctors and surgeons around the world.
Led by Professor Thomas Grégory, a surgeon who performed the world’s first mixed reality surgery in December 2017, the 13 surgeries departed from the Avicenne AP-HP Hospital in France and traveled to India, United Arab Emirates, South Africa, Ukraine , Germany, Belgium, Morocco, Brazil, Bolivia, Mexico, USA and United Kingdom.
Through HoloLens 2 and Dynamics 365 Remote Assist, surgeons were able to view holographic images during surgery, share their vision of surgery in real time, drawing on the experience of colleagues from different clinical cases, and train professionals remotely, enriching the practice surgical.

“Mixed reality transforms surgical practices. HoloLens 2 works as an assistant and allows us to use technology to guarantee and standardize surgeries,” says Professor Thomas Gregory, shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand surgeon at Avicenne AP Hospital -HP, in France.
HoloLens is a wireless mixed reality holographic device that connects to applications and solutions to improve or enable collaboration, innovation and productivity. Compared to previous models, HoloLens 2 is lighter, more comfortable and immersive for the surgeon. Hand and eye-tracking technology detects what the surgeon is seeing, allowing you to operate with greater precision.
The event is complemented with 25 round tables that will discuss the contribution of technology to surgical practice and the future of medicine. More than 60 international health professionals will analyze the strengths of mixed reality, artificial intelligence and technological innovation.
