Microsoft Teams with the new Together Mode

Conversations and meetings at Microsoft Teams will become more dynamic with the new modes and features of Together Mode

Microsoft is introducing new tools and new modes of conversation in Teams, in order to make meetings more dynamic and interesting. The new Together Mode feature uses an Artificial Intelligence system to cut out the user’s face and shoulders and create a virtual avatar that conveys a greater sense of realism and closeness than the usual representations of seeing the colleague in a gallery view or with a background personalized or unfocused.

The virtual representation allows you to wave, touch the shoulder of others, or give a ‘hi-five’ in a simulated way. In this mode, it becomes easier to identify who is speaking and to interpret the participants’ body language.

Together Mode will debut in August for most users and comes first with the view of the auditorium, for large meetings, with Microsoft promising more scenarios for the near future.

In addition to this mode, a more dynamic view will also appear, which allows users to share content with a subgroup of colleagues who are within the same meeting.

Teams will allow more live reactions, like emojis, and have video filters, to give the user more control over the focus and levels of the image captured by the webcam. The collaborative work platform will soon support up to a thousand participants and can go up to 20 thousand if you are attending a lecture or presentation.

Soon, Microsoft is preparing to add subtitles and artificially created translations in real-time and the integration of the personal assistant Cortana with Teams on mobile, to allow you to start conversations, join meetings or share files, all through commands of voice.
