MicroSons Palmela 2023 – Festival of Intimate Concerts

On the 13th and 14th of January, the MicroSons Festival returns, after its debut in 2019. This time it takes place at the Cine-Teatro S. João in Palmela and will focus on intimate concerts and sharing between the artists on stage and the public.

On January 13th, MicroSons starts with Kiko & The Blues Refugees, a supergroup formed by experienced and renowned musicians from the national scene: the musician, composer and producer Kiko Pereira, a Luso-American that critic José Duarte chose as the best male voice of jazz in Portugal, brings together an excellent team such as António Mão de Ferro (guitars), Jorge Filipe Santos (keyboards), Carl Minnemann (bass) and João Cunha (drums).

On the same day, Maria João takes the stage with Ogre Electric: a project by the singer that needs no introduction, and her producer and musician João Farinha. Focused on electric pianos, synthesizers, and electronics, this adventure, which began in 2009 and has gone through different identities and formations, sometimes includes acoustic piano and drums, giving rise to a musical hybrid between jazz and electronics. A band with unusual instrumentation and a unique artistic approach, which takes the public on a journey through the world of sounds, jumping boundaries between digital and analog, with the voice of Maria João leading the way.

On the 14th of January, it is the turn of Pedro e os Lobos, the band of Pedro Galhoz, Nelson Correia, and Rui Freire, which is already celebrating a decade of career and presents influences ranging from indie folk to the most psychedelic folk rock, sung in Portuguese. Pedro e os Lobos is preparing to release a new album in 2023.

The singer and songwriter Viviane closes the first edition of MicroSons: the former lead singer of Entre Aspas, one of the most emblematic bands of the 90s in Portugal, will present her new album “Quem Tiveres Tempo”. A journey through Viviane’s unmistakable musical universe, which she names Mediterranean Fado, in which one feels and breathes the Anglo-Saxon freedom, the melancholy of fado, the elegance of the “Chanson“, the genres of the Mediterranean breeze, the memory of rural music and the spices of Africa. On stage, Viviane will be accompanied by Tó Viegas on Portuguese guitar and samples, Filipe Valentim on keyboards and melodica, and also by João Vitorino on acoustic guitar.

MicroSons also intends to become a Traveling Festival that will visit other locations in future editions.
