The session was led by Valentino Rossi, who beat Jorge Lorenzo by 0.079 seconds.
Miguel Oliveira had the 18th fastest time in the first free practice session of the Qatar Grand Prix, his first since the ‘promotion’ to MotoGP.
The best Red Bull KTM Tech3 Portuguese record was 1: 56.061, 0.145 seconds short of Johann Zarco, the Austrian team’s main driver.
The lead of the session on Friday was handed over to Valentino Rossi, who registered 1: 55.048. Just behind was Jorge Lorenzo (1: 55.127) and, closing the podium, Marc Márquez (1: 55.164).
The second practice session is still held this Friday, early in the afternoon.
Miguel Oliveira returns to the circuit of Losail this Saturday, at 12:15 p.m. (mainland Portugal time), for the third session of the first Grand Prix of the season. Already the qualification, is scheduled for 17h00.
