Portuguese start-up is the first company to offer the option of charging an electric vehicle on the national network in a completely digital way, at more than 2000 charging points, without having to resort to a physical charging card.
Miio, a Portuguese start-up founded by two former students from the University of Aveiro, takes a decisive step in the experience of charging electric vehicles, which is now being done in a 100% digital way. Through the Miio mobile app, it is no longer necessary to use a physical card to charge an electric vehicle on the national public network managed by MOBI.E.
The Miio app provides users of electric vehicles with essential information so that they can travel in peace, informing where the charging stations are, what is their power, if they are available and functional, what is the price, among many other information. The user can be notified when the station he wants to use is available, compare prices, know the current and future status of the national network, and plan routes. The app innovates not only in the simple and aggregate price but also in the cost control it provides to users.
“Loading cards are always susceptible to lose and to be lost, stolen, or broken. We took the first step in simplifying and transparency of loading, after realizing that the user had no control over price, duration of loading, the status of loading. and kWhs consumed. With the Miio app, the user now has access to monitoring the load in real-time and now that experience becomes 100% digital“, explains Daniela Simões, Miio co-founder.
Launched less than two years ago, Miio is currently the only application that allows the user to have an aggregate, transparent and simplified price, with everything included and comparable with tariffs of other CEMEs (Electricity Traders for Electric Mobility). Through the app it is possible to know, with precision, and based on the rank, time of day and vehicle, how much the user will pay for this load, and now do it without using any card, something that does not happen with more no other solution available on the market.
“We want to continue to lead and innovate in this sector, accelerating the simplicity and transparency of the process of using electric vehicles and, in this way, being an engine for the transformation of the automotive industry in Portugal. Our application today meets the preference of more than 70% of electric vehicle users. With this new way of charging we will continue to make life easier for our users”, reinforces Daniela Simões.
