Today, Milhanas’ reinterpretation of the classic “Silêncio e Tanta Gente“, original by Maria Guinot, is published. The song represented Portugal at Eurovision in 1984 and, in the year in which it celebrates 40 years, it was entitled to a tribute from Milhanas at the Song Festival.
“Sometimes, only silence allows me to know what I want to say, sometimes it is only among people that I understand where I should go”, Maria Guinot. A timeless song. After 40 years I feel the same thing as the author.

The performance was applauded by spectators and the press, which led the singer and songwriter to edit the studio version on digital platforms. Produced by AGIR, this version of “Silêncio e Tanta Gente” combines the piano of the original with a contemporary aesthetic approach, characteristic of Milhanas‘ repertoire.
When participating in the Festival da Canção, the artist revealed to RTP that she was “afraid to take on the song”, as she considered that it “doesn’t need anything else”. Still, when talking to AGIR, she realized that she could make a version closer to her work without distorting one of the greatest classics of Portuguese music.
On May 13th, Milhanas makes his debut in Lisbon at the Teatro Maria Matos, to a sold-out crowd. Throughout the year, she will continue to present her acclaimed debut album De Sombra a Sombra, having confirmed her presence at Primavera Sound Porto.
