Milhanas is among those nominated for the Golden Globe for Newcomer. Unlike the other categories, the public is invited to choose the winner through online voting.
The artist was already nominated for Best Song of the Year for the song “Mais Que Ao Sol”. The winners will be announced on October 1st at the ceremony scheduled for the Coliseu de Lisboa which will be broadcast on television on SIC.
Milhanas‘ first album of originals, De Sombra a Sombra, was released on May 26th. Produced by Agir and Jon, the full-length has been extremely acclaimed by the public and critics, highlighting the young singer as one of the most brilliant artists of the new generation.
De Sombra a Sombra features the singles “Lamentos”, and “Mundo e Eu de Prosa”, in addition to the aforementioned “Mais Que Ao Sol”. According to Milhanas, the album is a “self-portrait” that grew as he grew “both lyrically and musically” and features “several allusions to poets and musicians” that accompanied his growth “as a person and as an artist.”
At just 21 years old, Milhanas was nominated this year in the New Artist category at the Play Awards. Now, the incredible talent she demonstrated in the studio and which she has demonstrated live is recognized with two nominations for one of the most prestigious competitions in the country.
