Miquel Lacasta participates in a conference at Casa da Arquitectura

Award-winning Catalan architect addresses the theme of relational cities

On the 16th of January, between 11 am and 1 pm, the architect Miquel Lacasta will be the guest speaker at the conference “The Relational City” which will take place at the Casa da Arquitectura de Matosinhos as part of the project Laboratory of Relational Cities promoted by the Instituto Padre António Vieira (IPAV) and Gaiurb, E.M.

Miquel Lacasta is a reference among the teaching staff of the School of Architecture of the International University of Catalonia, where he distinguished himself in the area of Biodigital Architecture in the context of academic research, counting on a wide range of international awards and distinctions, among which the Spanish Urbanism Award 2021, first place in the Quartiers Fertiles 2021 competition for Agrociudad Gagarine Truillot, as well as being the winner of the 2021 edition of the Réinventer Paris 3 competition with Scène des Loges and finalist of the EPL 2021 Trophy in the category “City of tomorrow – City smart”, for ZAC Rouget-de-Lisle.

With free but mandatory registration, the conference addresses a more people-oriented model of urbanism, seeking to generate a practical reflection for more humanized cities and analyze everyday dynamics, similar to what is already applied in other geographies such as England, France, or the United States.

It should be recalled that the Relational Cities Laboratory was publicly presented in November and is currently based at Casa dos Ferradores, on Rua Cândido dos Reis, in Vila Nova de Gaia, resulting from articulation between Gaiurb, E.M., and IPAV.
