Mísia receives Charles Cros Academy Award

Fado singer Mísia received the “In Honorem” award from the Charles Cros Academy in Paris for her career and the innovation she brought to fado as a music genre.

The award ceremony took place at the Traversière Theater in Paris, the capital of France, and was attended by the Portuguese singer.

This is the third time that this French institution, which has the high patronage of the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, has distinguished Mísia, but the first in which it is awarded the “In Honorem” award, which recognizes the career value of musical performers. .

The Charles Cros Academy has been in existence since 1947 and its mission is to preserve sound memory, supporting the creation and development of artists.

This academy is divided into eight commissions that bring together about 100 artists and music critics, ranging from the French song to audiobooks or new talent.

Mísia is back on Parisian stage as early as Monday, performing at La Cigale as part of the Au Fil des Voix festival.

With her latest album “Pura Vida”, released in late 2019 in France, the Portuguese artist received the Phonographic Critics Award, a prize from the German record critic.
