MOGA Festival announces free activities for the five days

Activities will take place in various locations on Costa da Caparica as a way of boosting the culture of the city by the sea.

There are just a few days left until the start of MOGA Caparica, 2024 edition, the ideal time for the organization of the festival to showcase the various free activities that will take place from May 29th to June 2nd. These activities are aimed at all ages – even the little ones – and all tastes. This is because MOGA is not just for those who can afford a ticket. Those who don’t have this opportunity can be part of the festival through other activities that take place throughout the day at different times.

Matthieu Corosine, co-founder of MOGA Festival says “Our activities aim to be current, inclusive and deeply rooted in community and cultural connections. MOGA will once again be the beating heart of Caparica during the first weekend of June and we want everyone to visit us and participate in our activities”.

CHILDREN’S DAY – MOGA KIDS

Because this year, MOGA Caparica covers Children’s Day, the festival organizers decided to promote MOGA Kids for children up to 15 years old. The event will take place on June 1st, at Parque Municipal de Santo António da Caparica, from 11:00 to 17:00, it is free and will offer a series of activities such as magic, artistic ballooning, face painting, and skateboarding. But the fun doesn’t stop there: the youngest will be able to dance with DJ Namor, who will create the perfect soundtrack for children of all ages to party together. It will be a day full of smiles, joy and memories for the whole family.

PAINTING OF A MURAL IN COSTA DA CAPARICA – THE MEETING BETWEEN MOROCCO AND PORTUGAL

In the field of art and culture, MOGA will promote the strengthening of cultural ties between Morocco and Portugal, inviting street artists to create a painting on a mural located in Rotunda das Figuras do Mar, next to Dr Bernard. The talents that will work on this ambitious street art project are the Portuguese artists from the collective Malibu Ninjas and the Moroccan artist Said Sabbah, also known as DAIS. The particularity of this painting is the fact that the artists ‘met’ in the middle of painting the mural, culminating in a fusion that symbolizes the relationship between Portugal and Morocco. This project has the support of the Almada City Council, the Moroccan Ministry of Culture and INTELCIA. The work will be officially presented on the first day of the festival (May 29).

A CULINARY ADVENTURE WITH LOCAL FISHERMEN

Still, on May 29th, MOGA Caparica will promote a true culinary adventure. ‘Do Mar à Mesa’ is a dining experience in which participants can immerse themselves in the traditional fishing culture of Caparica. The experience will take place at Buya Beach, a new space on Praia da Cornélia, it will begin at 6:00 pm with a conversation with local fishermen and at 8:00 pm the three-course meal will begin, prepared with the freshest fish by experienced Chef Duarte Mayer. After dinner, the party continues with the opening of the festival, at Dr. Bernard Azul. Dinner will cost €60 per person and reservations must be made via this link.

CREATIVE WORKSHOPS

We all know that MOGA was never just a music festival. As part of this, MOGA Caparica will offer workshops and talks covering a wide range of subjects, from creative writing to a DJing workshop by the Soundsister collective. NFC and Sandbox partners will be an important part of the panel, covering topics such as Web3 music. This year, talks and workshops will be held at Lorosae and Buya Beach, which also host the free parties that MOGA will promote. The talks are free and the workshops cost between €5 and €20, with registration being mandatory: IA workshop & DJ workshop for Beginners

YOGA AND WELLBEING

From discussion to well-being, this year MOGA moved forward with a partnership with Ocean Yoga Studio, a group from Caparica, which will give yoga classes on the mornings of the festival. Classes will be held on the beach during the festival (from May 29th to June 2nd) allowing festival-goers to recharge their batteries under the sun of the Portuguese seafront. Classes will be taught in English and Portuguese to include both local and international visitors. In the first three days, Ana Knakiewicz will promote these classes that will take place in Praia Nova, from 10:00 to 11:00. The price per person is €8. On the 1st and 2nd of June, Joana Lopes will lead a free Ecstatic Dance class on the festival grounds, as a good warm-up before the start of the festival (2:00 pm – 3:00 pm), for all those who purchase a ticket. for the festival.

Finally, remember that the MOGA Festival is more than just a paid festival: on the first two days of the festival (May 29th and 30th), there will be several free parties. The Praia Lorosae bar will host a party on the afternoon of May 29th and 30th. For this occasion, the organizers teamed up with Thiago Guiselini, from Amor Records, a local record store and talent incubator. The event offers participants an immersive experience of Lisbon’s electronic music, featuring local names. Still, on the same days, the celebration continues at Dr. Bernard Azul, just a few minutes from the afternoon event, welcoming headliners from the electronic scene together with their talented DJ friends. On Wednesday, Polocorp and, on Thursday, DJ Vibe, a Portuguese talent known locally and worldwide, both playing beats for a party that will last well into the night.
