MONiMO edits video/short animation fo “open lights”

The theme is the second preview to the first disc of the project

After editing last year the debut single, “the swing of Sonder”, MONiMO returns with “open lights”, the second single preview to the first album of the project.

“open lights” is a progressive rock single, and the music video/short was made and created in 3D animation by composer Diogo Marrafa. This time, with the lyrics in the first person, unlike “the swing of Sonder”, conjugated in “ela/she” (characteristic of the debut album, in which each theme has its conjugation)the artist presents to the public a more sober facet and describes in a more evident way the mascot of the band.

In this story, represented in the video/short animation, the giant wakes up trapped in a cave, having half of his body taken over by the rocks and minerals formed in it. Everywhere you see light paths and tunnels, which the monster cannot reach. The anguish of the protagonist is evident while admiring the vegetation and the insects that fly freely through the cave. The character, trying to free himself from the situation in which he finds himself, ends up being consumed by the rocks in their entirety, revealing that the world, on the other side, is not so bad, and is, in fact, everything he was looking for, entering an ocean of movement and lights, in which he swims freely until he finds a place too bright, which frightens him and makes him return to the cave, but this time trapped underwater.

Between melancholic and dramatic compositions, sometimes powerful drums, sometimes subtle, the debut album of MONiMO invokes the artist’s introduction to the world of synthesizers, along with acoustic, electric guitars and various types of piano, highlighting songs that follow storytelling structures and, at the same time, not always predictable.

“open lights” is a reflection on how we are deluded by desires and how we sometimes mistakenly think that it is the context that chains us. The release of the album is scheduled for this summer and will feature five songs and two interludes, where the artist will reveal yet another video.
