“Monstros” de Elie Semoun

Elie Semoun always looks for more original, profound, spectacular and, above all, human themes for his shows. Introducing the public to Wagner and the duck dance, dancing the waltz with his mother’s urn, taking them to watch a kidnapping, coming out of a coma after thirty years, trying to win back his wife after fifteen years of infidelity… These are just some of the scenarios in Elie Semoun’s new show, where the comedian explores everyday life issues uniquely and peculiarly.

Deep down, life is a circus, a comedy, a tragedy in which we all struggle. He answers the question in his way and with his very particular look: can we laugh at everything?

“Elie Semoun et ses Monstres” is his 7th solo on stage, which arrives at CCB – Centro Cultural de Belém this year, on September 28th.

ABOUT ELIE SEMOUN

Having started playing theatre at the age of 17, in high school, Elie attended the Théâtre de l’Atelier under the direction of Jean Darnel, where he met Nicolas Vaude, Nicolas Briançon and Annie Grégorio. The latter introduced her to the director Roget Louret, who was preparing a classic play called “Les Folies Amoureuses”, for which he was looking for a servant to play opposite the main character, played by Muriel Robin.

At the age of 19, she joined the Baladins en Agenais troupe and, after returning to Paris, there were commercials, short films and a series called “Vivement Lundi”, which brought her some popularity. It was then that she met Dieudonné and everything happened very quickly. Pascal Légitimus staged them at the Café de la Gare, which quickly filled up, followed by the Splendid, the Théâtre de Dix Heures and the Casino de Paris. Elie pursued his solo career both on stage and on screen, created “Petites Annonces d’Elie” with Franck Dubosc and accumulated successes on radio, television, records and stage.
