More than 25 Italian cities host Portuguese cinema show in the autumn

Projections begin on September 29 and September 30 in Rome.

This coming autumn, more than 25 Italian cities will host LUSO, a traveling exhibition of the new Portuguese cinema that includes five recent feature films and a number of award-winning short films.

The initiative starts on September 29 and promises to surprise the Italians with meetings with Portuguese directors such as Marco Martins (‘São Jorge’) and Pedro Pinho (‘Fábrica de Nada’) and round tables with Italian and Portuguese experts.

The projections will take place in cinematheques, cultural centers and in the main rooms dedicated to the cinema of author in Italy like the Museum of the Cinema of Turin, the House of the Cinema of Rome and the Cinemateca of Bologna.

According to a statement sent by LUSO to Notícias ao Minuto, this show responds to the growing interest of the Italian public in national cinematographic production, “fueled by the success of many Portuguese works at major world film festivals, such as the Venice”.

The first stage of the initiative will take place on 29 and 30 September at the Casa del Cinema in Rome, but the projections continue through the autumn inside. The organization promises to announce the full calendar soon.
