From October 19th to 22nd, short films from the Cineclube Seixal project will be shown at Cineplace Cinemas, at RioSul Shopping, in Seixal.
After having been premiered in the Municipal Auditorium of the Seixal Cultural Forum, this will be an excellent opportunity for schools and the general public to watch the screening of 10 short films, created by young people between 15 and 20 years old, residing in the municipality, within the scope of the Cineclube Seixal – Short Film Exhibition and Competition, which took place throughout the 2022-2023 academic year. The sessions are scheduled for 2 p.m., with free entry.
It should be noted that this is a film creation project, which is jointly organized by Seixal City Council and RUGAS – Associação Cultural.
Paulo Silva, president of Seixal City Council, explains that «this initiative aims to encourage the artistic creativity of young people and contribute to their integral cultural formation, encouraging their approach to the arts and civic participation in valuing and respecting the territory. Furthermore, we also seek to create conditions for learning and developing the analysis of various themes, through the potential of cinematic language». Cineclube Seixal is co-financed by the European Social Fund, Portugal 2020, Lisbon Regional Operational Program 2014/2020.
The Short Film Exhibition and Competition began on December 3, 2022. They lasted until June 2023, developing in two phases: training actions and a final exhibition in the Municipal Auditorium of the Cultural Forum from Seixal. «Filma a Tua Cidade» was the theme that served as the motto for the initiative, in which participants had the opportunity to learn how to make a film based on that theme, with a team that guided them from writing the script to production to filming, for making and editing the film and providing all the necessary material to make the short films.
