Movies by Cristèle Alves Meira and Sofia Bost at Critics Week

Two Portuguese productions, by Cristèle Alves Meira and Sofia Bost, were selected for the Week of Criticism, one of the parallel programs of the Cannes Film Festival (France), was announced today.

According to the program, in the short film competition is Sofia Bost’s ‘Dia de Festa’, a production by Filipa Reis that will make the world premiere in France.

Sofia Bost, who has worked as an editor, is also the author of the short film ‘Swallows’ (2015).

In addition to “Día de Festa”, in Critics’ Week, the short film “Invisível Herói”, by the Portuguese descending Cristèle Alves Meira, will also be out of competition and also in a world premiere, with co-production between Portugal and France.

It will be a return of Cristèle Alves Meira to the Week of Criticism, after having presented in 2016 the film ‘Field of Vipers’. He is currently preparing the first feature film, titled “Witch.”

The Critics’ Week, organized more than 50 years ago by the Union of Film Critics of France, will run from May 15 to 23 and will feature 11 feature films and 15 short films, most of them in competition.

The jury of the Critics’ Week is presided over by the Colombian director Ciro Guerra.

The Cannes Film Festival is scheduled for 14-25 May.
