Mozambique wins Zambia and stays in CAN race

Reginaldo was the hero of the game for the Mozambicans, in the 63rd minute, the only goal of the game in favour of the ‘mambas’, in a bid that took the thousands of supporters present at the National Stadium of Zimpeto to delirium.

The Mozambican soccer team beat Zambia 1-0 in the matchday four of Group C qualifying for the 2019 African Cup of Nations (CAN) in the qualifying campaign.

Reginaldo was the hero of the game for the Mozambicans, in the 63rd minute, the only goal of the game in favour of the ‘mambas’, in a bid that took the thousands of supporters present at the National Stadium of Zimpeto to delirium.

With the adverse result, Zambia tried to race against time, but the experience of the Mozambican centre-backs, led by Marítimo Zainadine’s player, spoke louder.

“I think we were strong and that was what we noticed the most,” said Abel Xavier during the post-match press conference.

With the victory, Mozambique is depending on itself to find out, discussing one of the vacancies available at the home of Guinea-Bissau on the last day.

Guinea-Bissau leads with eight points, the same as in Namibia, second, while Mozambique is third with seven and Zambia, already away, is fourth with four.
