The Solidarity Festival, Connect for Ukraine, began yesterday, taking place at the Municipal Stadium of Oeiras, and aims to support the non-profit organization, UA.PT, which supports Ukrainian refugees.
The first day of the festival could not have been more emotional, joy, sadness, and hope, there were also many tears, but also smiles throughout the day, in a stadium that was unfortunately not full, but with a good human frame, which helped to make a big Ukrainian flag.
The presenters were Viktoriya Starchenko and Ricardo Carriço, which was attended by Dr. Isaltino de Morais, Mayor of Oeiras, Dr. Nélson Pires, President of the Marquês de Pombal Foundation.
One of the most emotional moments was when, on the giant screen on stage, you can see a film from various locations in Ukraine, before and after the Russian invasion, few were able to hold back their tears watching images of a war, which we already thought not be possible in Europe. There was also a human flag while Ana Trincher and Orquestra Ibérica played the anthem of Ukraine.
The Iberian Orchestra then played for the audience, mostly Ukrainians, but also Portuguese and Brazilians, international themes that everyone knows, ending with the emblematic theme ‘Imagine‘ by John Lennon.
We then had Ukrainian dances on stage by the ‘Estrelinhas‘ dance school and one more by young people who danced before Arteana and after Anna Trincher entered the stage, always very emotional moments of mutual support from artists to the public and from the public to the artists, with words of order to support Ukraine and charge Russia.
Before Paula Toller enters the stage, we can still see a patriotic dance, the Brazilian artist came to end with great joy, a day full of emotions, she returned to bring smiles and dance, with her themes and joy on stage.
