Women in Jazz say “We Exist” with Dee Dee Bridgewater

The award-winning jazz singer goes up to the stage accompanied by three women for a unique spectacle: a masterful lesson in musicality and female empowerment.

American artist Dee Dee Bridgewater, accompanied by an exclusively female band, acts at the Grand Auditorium of Centro Cultural de Belém on May 25.

Although Jazz is a style told to the male gender, women have gained their space as singers, but also within the band, playing other musical instruments besides the piano – which is traditionally attributed to women for representing the delicacy associated with them.

The “We Exist” concert is a jazz manifesto, as a plural and representative space. In the Centro Cultural de Belém, the quartet will transport the public on a journey between the past, present and future of women in music, art and society.

This concert is also a musical trip with the innovative rhythms of jazz, soul and R&B, conducted by one of the greatest female jazz artists in the world, who has won the Grammy Award three times in the category of Best Jazz Vocal Performance, Female.

Dee Dee Bridgewater has also been Ambassador of the Goodwill of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) since 2010. In addition to the work on stage, the American artist seeks to inspire and educate the new generations through philanthropic contributions.

With a unique and emotional interpretation, accompanied by dynamic and engaging arrangements, the Dee Dee Bridgewater Quartet promises a vibrant and innovative celebration of female jazz at the “We Exist” concert scheduled for May 25 at the Belém Cultural Center.
