Multidisciplinary show “O Homem do Fogo” raised awareness, with art, for the prevention of rural fires

Last Saturday, September 26, Jardim da Verbena hosted the multidisciplinary show “O Homem do Fogo” presented and created by TEAS13 – Experimental Theater Group of São Brás de Alportel, by the São Brás de Alportel Philharmonic Band, with animation sand by Pilar Puyana and dramatic creation and narration by Fernando Guerreiro.

São Brás de Alportel was the only municipality in the region chosen to host the national project “Don’t play with fire”, launched this year, as a result of the partnership between the Agency for the Integrated Management of Rural Fires (AGIF) and the Ministry of Culture, which aims to sensitize populations and mobilize people to change behaviors related to the use of fire through cultural productions.

The show’s debut was attended by the Assistant Secretary of State and Cultural Heritage, Ângela Ferreira.

“I really liked the combination of these different aspects of the narrative, the band and the drawings in the sand. It is a very successful show”, affirmed the Secretary of State at the end of the show, taking the opportunity to stress that she believes“a lot in culture and the arts as a way to raise awareness and change behaviors and, therefore, we hope that this partnership (Ministry of Culture) and AGIF) continue and this type of show can be repeated more often”.

São Brás de Alportel was the only municipality in the region to receive this initiative, which has the local support of the municipality and the parish of São Brás de Alportel.

The commitment, creativity and mastery of the artists who developed this project in São Brás de Alportel were also praised on the occasion by the Mayor who, along with artistic creation, transmits the important message that it is urgent to protect nature from fire and that this is a mission in which every citizen can and must contribute.

Created from a traditional Chinese tale, “O Homem do Fogo” takes us back to the beginning of time, when time was not yet time, when man was created and fire was discovered.
