The inauguration of the São Brás de Alportel Canine Park featured three surprising demonstrations of sports obedience training, agility and freestyle, starring the 4-legged athlete’s Pivot Duques Negros, Bala de Algharbravo and Flor, well accompanied by Hernâni Carneiro, Catarina Santos and Samanta Carneiro, respectively.
The Municipality of São Brás de Alportel marked the 4th of October, National Animal Day, with the inauguration of the Canino Park, a project proposed and chosen by the São Brasenses under the 2019 Participatory Budget.
It is a leisure space equipped with areas and training equipment that constitutes another important step towards animal welfare, located next to the Maintenance Circuit of the Northern Circular of São Brás de Alportel, next to the Rotunda do Barro.
The work completely carried out by municipal services and installed on municipal land, seeks to simultaneously create a leisure space, with amenities and safety for pets and their caregivers.
The inaugural plaque was unveiled by the Mayor, Vítor Guerreiro, by Councilor David Gonçalves, responsible for animal welfare, and by the two proponents of this project in the Participatory Budget Process, Rita Luís and Vânia Martins.
Addressing all those present, Vítor Guerreiro explained that this is a project that is in line with municipal policies aimed at the animal cause that in São Brás de Alportel is worked on by the Municipality, but also by volunteers and partner associations such as Coração 100 Owner.
“We hope that this space is cherished and properly used by São Brasenses”, he stated, recalling that there is the capacity to expand the park if necessary.
Councilor David Gonçalves thanked everyone involved, from the proposal to the execution of the park, which is expected to be a choice space for those looking to provide their pets with good moments of leisure.
