Music premieres this Thursday on Prime Video
Prime Video premieres this Thursday, April 4th, Music. The film stars Camila Mendes and Rudy Mancuso.
Rudy Mancuso, a charismatic but aimless young street artist from Newark’s Ironbound neighbourhood, has a unique view of the world. Thanks to a rare disease called synesthesia, he experiences everyday noises – from car horns to water drops and slamming doors – as a series of complex rhythms. He tries hard to keep the music in his head at bay, but it’s not that easy to do.
When he’s not attending classes to finish his college degree or putting on puppet shows for spectators on the streets of Ironbound’s Brazilian community, Rudy tries to convince his girlfriend, Haley, that he’ll figure things out eventually. He lives with his mother, Maria, who wants her son to leave Haley and settle down with a nice Brazilian girl in the neighbourhood. Rudy also receives advice about life and love from his best friend, Anwar, a food truck driver whose cultural identity changes depending on where the truck is parked on a given day.
The situation becomes chaotic when Rudy is attacked by a piece of frozen fish. The accident leads to a meeting with Isabella, a beautiful young Brazilian who works at the local fish market and who can understand Rudy in a way no one else has. Caught in a love triangle, Rudy tries to balance his cultural heritage, the women in his life and the music inside his head.
