The concert entitled ‘Fin de Fiesta Barroca con Fado’ is part of the so-called ‘Cycle of Great Authors and Interpreters of Music’, organized by the Centro Superior de Investigación y Promoción de la Música, of the Autonomous University of Madrid.
The Musicians of the Tagus, period orchestra conducted by Marcos Magalhães and Marta Araújo, perform with the soprano Ana Quintans, the fado singer Ricardo Ribeiro, the musician Marco Oliveira, fado viola, and the percussionist Jarrod Cagwin.
The concert has its roots in the ‘Fado Barroco’ project, which Os Músicos do Tejo presented on the stage of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, in 2016, and which gave rise to the album published a year later, in Naxos, also with the fado singer Ricardo Ribeiro and soprano Ana Quintans.
The performance in Madrid comes at a time when the edition of the comic opera ‘Il Mondo della Luna’, by Pedro António Avondano, in the first world recording, is gaining attention and praise from critics in Spain.
