“Não posso ter nada” a pop song in its essence by Tiago Vilhena

Não posso ter nada” is a pop song at its core. A song to dance, sing and smile. The scrambled rhythms, the vibrant melody, the fun and unexpected arrangements and the everyday lyrics reveal the musician’s desire to get closer to the audience.

With a classic structure, an early chorus, a challenging and evolving verse and subjective yet easy-to-receive lyrics, Tiago Vilhena reveal that he is here to offer us songs to listen to, repeat and retain. The aura of the intervention song is present, but he has exchanged his shirt for a t-shirt and his wristwatch for his smartphone.

In other words, we listen to “Não Posso Ter Nada” with a modern, fresh and light outfit, but which manages to bring with it extensive baggage of Portuguese musical culture. The border accent is let out in a subtle way, the classical guitar builds the skeleton, the synthesizers dress the subject and the rhythm makes him dance. So, we couldn’t expect a video that didn’t have movement.

Filmed in Lisbon and directed by Mariana Romão, this one exudes good mood, health and colour. All colours. This is the first sample of the album that will be released throughout the year 2022 and by the looks of it, the good mood will be the main ingredient.

BIOGRAPHY

Tiago Vilhena is a Portuguese musician, who lives in Lisbon and has been part of projects such as Savanna and George Marvinson. Today he performs under the name Tiago Vilhena and sings in his native language. In this last work, he combines his old references of indie rock with Portuguese music. During the last 2 years, he took advantage of the isolation to compose all the songs he could and the album that will come out in 2022 is the result of this work. Once again, and as is common with the artist, there was a reinvention of his musical essence.

Continuing with the character of a singer-songwriter, Tiago Vilhena presents himself this time with fun, hopeful, colourful songs that make you want to dance. Rhythm is the key to the new songs and the good mood is clear and contagious. Themes vary between work, everyday life, passions and ambitions. Subjects that most listeners will identify with and where they will find a comfort zone. The Lisbon night, the desires and ambitions of a young adult, the instability that unbalances the methodical, but that inspires the creative, are the literal object of the new songs of the artist who promises to put his feet on the ground.
