The flight research center NASA Armstrong has opened a tender to award a contract to one or more organizations that present electric motor solutions for a flight demonstration.
The US space agency’s plans are to use these demonstrations to mature the EAP (Electrified Aircraft Propulsion) technologies to be introduced into the United States fleet by 2035 at the latest. The deadline for the proposals is April 20.
NASA explains that EAP electrical systems are being developed to replace, or improve on a hybrid system, aircraft propulsion systems, in a manner similar to what is being used in the automotive industry.
