After a decade of consolidating a unique trajectory in Portuguese music, Nayr Faquirá is preparing to present her long-awaited debut album, Entrelinhas, live in a special show at Musicbox, in Lisbon, on May 24.
The album will be released the day before, May 23, and marks a milestone in the career of the Portuguese-Mozambican singer, producer and composer.
The presentation show will reflect a deeply personal and transformative work, which brings together 13 tracks in which Nayr delves into her experiences, pains and achievements as a woman in the music industry. The fusion of R&B, soul, hip-hop and Afrobeat builds the scenario in which the artist gives voice to the stories that so often go untold.
Entrelinhas is not just an album — it is a manifesto. A space where Nayr Faquirá’s voice finds freedom, and untold stories finally come to life.
In anticipation of the album, the artist revealed three singles — “On & On”, “Tua” and “Brinde” — that won over the public with their honesty, lyricism and emotional intensity.
Released on April 25, the most recent track, “Brinde”, emerged as a tribute to the freedom achieved and the freedom that remains to be achieved. “It’s not easy to be free and have a voice, but it’s urgent”, declared Nayr, who sees music as a tool for resistance and transformation.
“On & On” inaugurated this new chapter with a confessional approach about affirmation and overcoming, while “Tua” explored the intimacy and memory of a past love, revealing itself as one of the artist’s most emotional compositions.
Nayr Faquirá is one of the most relevant voices of the new generation of Portuguese-speaking music. With two EPs released, collaborations with names such as Selma Uamusse, Valete, Ivandro, Deezy and Garry, and the song “Quem Tu És” — the opening track for the Morangos com Açúcar series —, the artist has been building a solid career, marked by authenticity and creative freedom.
The show on May 24th, at Musicbox, will be the moment to share with the public the universe of “Entrelinhas” in all its power.
