To celebrate 20 years of Rock in Rio Lisboa, Palco Mundo will welcome North American singer Ne-Yo, who will perform for the first time at the festival, on June 23rd, as well as a breathtaking pyro-musical video mapping show. breath-taking, over the four days, which will sharpen all the audience’s senses, in a unique live show experience in Portugal, as an icon of the festive spirit of the historic edition that the festival celebrates in 2024.

Pyromusical and video show of devastation with creative direction by Nuno Maya and artistic direction by Occupa, pyrotechnic designer Vítor Machado and Lightning Designer Terry Cook takes place over the four days of the festival, in between the last concert on Palco Mundo.
It is on a World Stage with 100m2 of scenography and with the addition of two large 8x6m LEDs, to complement the scenography, the immersive videomapping show commemorating 20 years of Rock in Rio in Portugal will be projected, to tell the story of the past. editions and the future of the festival with such a lively immersion, which will place the public inside the show, similar to the experience experienced in the edition commemorating the 15th anniversary of Rock in Rio Lisboa, in the gardens of Torre de Belém, in Lisbon.
To achieve the desired result, the festival could not fail to count on the touch of the genius of the national artistic studio OCUBO, under the creative direction of Nuno Maya, whose portfolio includes notable and bold projects carried out for 35 countries. Through the integration of various technical and artistic means, using LED walls and stage panels, which will transform into an animated element, making use of its three-dimensionality, the video mapping will be projected over the entire World Stage, where beams of light will be inserted, as well as in the free area of the stage, close to the entire audience, to highlight the most exciting moments and fill the audience with colour.
The extent of these light effects, designed by British Lightning Designer Terry Cook, consultant at RIR Lisbon since 2015, and who has worked with artists such as The Rolling Stones, Guns N’ Roses, AC/DC, Elton John, Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne, will provide greater immersion, further enhanced by special effects created with fog, biodegradable confetti and magnificent fireworks, which could only once again count on the extraordinary talent of Vítor Machado, from Grupo Luso Pirotecnia, also responsible, for example, for Fogo of Artifice shows held on the 25 de Abril Bridge, in 2007 and 2009, the year in which the magical pyrotechnic cascade was made, considered at the time the greatest fireworks display ever seen on the Tagus.
The entire experience will gain even more exciting contours created by the soundtrack composed of a medley of songs of different styles, from the festival’s most notable artists, which will serve as a unifying element of the entire show and bring out all the emotions.
It is in this sensorial show, which in approximately 5 minutes, will be told every day, in the interval of the last concert on Palco Mundo, the story of the last 20 years of Rock in Rio Lisboa, from the public’s perspective, and with the current Portuguese in second place. flat. Through the personification of several fans of the festival, who were present in several editions and grew up with Rock in Rio Lisboa, intertwined stories spent at the festival motivated by music will be told, in an animated comic strip, at the same time showing the space, the moments most memorable and the objectives and values of RIR Lisboa.
The passage of time is shown through key moments of each year in Portugal, and the different posters are compiled into posters with bold images, as the lives of the various characters progress, the family grows and lives the festival together, and RIR continues to be part of each of their lives, because it has already been part of everyone’s daily life and has become part of the Portuguese public. With multimedia and cultural projects, his creations combine art and innovation, mixing photographs, video mapping, VR, 2D and 3D animations, interactivity and live performances, providing memorable moments for everyone who experiences them. He has been the designer responsible since 2004 for all the shows created and designed for Rock in Rio Lisboa as a festival and for the shows created and designed in 2007 and 2009 at Ponte 25 de Abril for the countdown and 15th Anniversary, in the Jardins da Torre de Belém It has also been responsible for many years for some of the biggest New Year’s Eve fireworks in Portugal, such as Lisbon and Albufeira.

“My role at the festival is to design the lighting for all stages and VIP areas and oversee the opening moment of the 20th anniversary. I can’t wait to get started and enjoy the sun!”, says Terry Cook, who is part of the RIR Lisboa team as a Lighting Designer and consultant in 2015. Terry came to Lisbon with the Rolling Stones (2014) and it was here that he met the team from RIR Lisbon. festival. Rock In Rio is the international brand responsible for the biggest music and entertainment event in the world. Created in 1985 in Rio de Janeiro, it is an important part of the history of world music. The event has already had 22 editions, 130 days and more than 3,816 musical attractions.
