The Portuguese athlete, a triple world champion in 2007 and Olympic champion in 2008, was just one centimeter behind third-placed Indian Arpinder Singh (16.59 meters), both behind Hugues Fabrice Zango of Burkina Faso, second ranked with 17.02.
