Nelson Évora in the final of the triple-jump in the European athletics


Portugal’s Nelson Évora qualified for the final of the triple-jump European indoor track, jumping 16.89 meters in qualifying in Glasgow, Scotland.

The 34-year-old Portuguese athlete opened the competition with 16.47 meters and made 16.89 in the second test, his best mark of the year, having presented with 16.77. To reach the final, only 16.70.

Nelson Evora, Olympic champion in Beijing (2008), is the double European champion in the title, against the victories in 2015 in Prague, still an athlete of Benfica, with 17.21 meters, and in 2017, in Belgrade, where he reached gold with 17.20.

On March 3, 2018, in Birmingham, England, Nelson Evora beat the national record on the indoor track, jumping 17.40 meters, which earned him the bronze medal in the World Championships.

The best European brand of the year belongs to the Pedro Pichardo Benfica, with 17.32 meters, recorded that beat Nelson Évora in the national club. The Luso-Cuban is not, however, still authorized to compete for Portugal.
