Festival F isn’t just about music
discover the program of activities parallel to the concerts
Festival F presents its program of complementary activities to the more than 60 concerts scheduled for the 7th, 8th and 9th of September in the historic center of Faro. Gatherings, performing arts and crafts are some of the proposals that complete the three days of the 8th edition of the event.
TALKS
Similar to what happened in previous editions, the gatherings will play a central role in the program, taking the debate daily to the Cloisters of the Cathedral. One of the highlights of the agenda is the theme of Artificial Intelligence in artistic creation, moderated by radio host Luís Oliveira, with the participation of Matilde Campilho, a recognized writer in the national literary scene, and Rui Alves, actor, musician, director and – according to him – “a militant procrastinator”.
The press and journalism scenario will be another of the protagonists of these informal conversations, under the theme Where is the news?, which will be delivered to three journalists from different national media outlets: Miguel Ribeiro (SIC), Mafalda Anjos (VISÃO) and Rita Marrafa de Carvalho (RTP).
With the world of haute cuisine gaining an increasing number of followers in Portugal, is cooking an act of love or pure selfishness? is another of the themes present. The gathering features the participation of Vanessa Oliveira, television presenter, and Rodrigo Meneses, MasterChef Portugal competitor in the 2011 edition and organizer of events and workshops, moderated by Nuno Miguel Dias, journalist and gastronome.
EXHIBITIONS, ARTISTIC INSTALLATIONS, PERFORMING ARTS AND CRAFTSMANSHIPS
Artistic intervention returns to the spotlight in this edition and takes place all over the festival grounds, with the presence of names such as Al-Fanfare, Funkarmonica, Grupo Coral Ossonoba, and the dance group Urban Xpression.
The Emergente artistic residency program takes several artists and structures working in the areas of theater, dance, contemporary circus, and visual arts to Fábrica da Cerveja. Several performances will also take place in this space and pieces will be presented as part of the BoCA – Biennial of Contemporary Arts, which Faro is hosting for the second time.
The spaces of the Municipal Museum of Faro and Galeria Trem host the exhibition Natureza Paralela, by Manuel Baptista, while Galeria Arco will feature Faro Outside the city, by Eduardo Pinto.
In addition to these initiatives, there is the VATe children’s and youth theater run by the Algarve Theater Company, with two daily sessions in the auditorium on wheels located next to the SAGRES – Ria Stage, and also Artists & Fleas, an alternative market open between the 6 pm and 1 am, which aims to bring together those who visit through art.
FAGAR KID’S F
Always positioned as an event for the whole family, Festival F also offers a space dedicated to the little ones: Fagar Kid’s F, in the Palco SAGRES – Ria area. Here, future generations of festival-goers are invited to try out the countless activities and recreational-pedagogical experiences, within the scope of Environmental Sustainability.
JAMANTA SUNSET LOUNGE CATAMARAN
The temperatures can also be invited to experience the Jamanta Sunset Lounge Catamaran. This boat with the concept of a floating bar has the first boarding scheduled for 3 pm at the Olhão marina and arrives in Faro at 5:30 pm. From that time onwards, festival ticket holders can board via shuttle.
The Jamanta will be anchored close to the Faro Commercial Pier in order to allow participants to continue being involved in the event, with a dynamic experience until 8 pm in the middle of the Ria Formosa.
