September 21 is World Alzheimer’s Day. A disease that affects millions of people around the world. One of them inspired the new single You Don’t Remember Anymore by the Portuguese Non Talkers.
Evita Brantner, voice and author, explains why she wanted to write this song dedicated to her grandmother “it is a very emotionally devastating situation. My grandmother lives in Belgium and I have always been visiting her over the years I spent here in Portugal. The last time was just before the pandemic and at that time it was a tremendous shock because I didn’t know who I was anymore. I’m going to visit her again soon but I know it’s going to be very difficult. It’s like grieving for someone who is still alive”.
This being a familiar and private situation, we asked Marco Brantner, the other face of Non Talkers, about exposure to the public “it’s something we really want to share, as dementia is a condition that affects millions of people around the world, and if in a way we can provide some comfort through this song, we will feel that we have achieved something positive. In the musician’s opinion “I believe that there is a lot of information and a great effort on the part of various entities to provide support and information about this disease, however, we believe that it never hurts to continue to help raise awareness, and unfortunately, it is something that most of us will be in contact with in a more direct or indirect way throughout our lives. It’s definitely one of our goals with this song.”
The part of the rights and earnings obtained by streaming or downloading the single You Cant’ Remember Anymore will revert to Associação Alzheimer Portugal. As Marco Brantner told us “a very easy decision. We want to help as much as possible within our possibilities”.
You Don’t Remember Anymore is now available on digital platforms.
