And this winter, this unique energy crosses the Atlantic and takes to the stage with “The Streets of New Orleans”, the show that captivated the audience at the Grandes del Gospel festival and that now returns for a European tour with a mandatory stop in Portugal.
With musical direction by Vincent Balse, the powerful voice of Bridget Bazile, internationally acclaimed as one of the great voices of contemporary gospel, and the engaging New Orleans Gospel Choir, this concert delves into the roots of African-American music with an intensity that can be felt in the skin, giving body and soul to this rich cultural tradition.
“The Streets of New Orleans” is more than a concert: it is a collective evocation of the cultural heritage of a legendary city. With spirituality, emotion and contagious energy, the show revisits the great gospel hymns, pays homage to icons such as Louis Armstrong, Mahalia Jackson and Fats Domino, and embodies the spirit of Jazz Funeral. The repertoire includes classics such as “When the Saints Go Marching In”, “Just a Closer Walk with Thee” and the timeless “What a Wonderful World”, which are all given new life in an interpretation that combines tradition and modernity, technique and soul.
