Nobel Peace Prize announcement and ceremony will be in reduced format

Olav Njolstad, announced that the possibility of the announcement of the Nobel Peace Prize, which will be held on October 9 in Oslo, is being considered, either in virtual format or with a very limited presence of accredited journalists.

Also in a discreet format, it will be the award ceremony that, following tradition, will take place on December 10, the anniversary of the death of the founder of the award, the Swedish magnate Alfred Nobel.

Instead of the usual gala at the Oslo City Hall with around 1,000 guests, including the Norwegian royal family, the ceremony will take place with around 100 participants, in an auditorium at a university in the capital of Norway.

In total, there are 317 nominees for the award, including 210 people and 107 organizations.

Among the proposals is that of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, who was nominated by a Norwegian parliamentarian, invoking his contribution to the agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates.

Also in a restricted format are the announcements and the gala of the other Nobel prizes – Medicine, Chemistry, Physics, Literature and Economics – which will be announced between October 5th and 12th and that will also be delivered on December 10th, at a ceremony in Stockholm.
