Night of many emotions in Para Sempre, Marco

Tivoli BBVA Theater

Lots of emotion, tears, joy and songs that will forever be in the history of Portuguese music, that was the night that took place at Tivoli yesterday, and which promises to be repeated today, in the show Para Sempre, Marco, by Tiago Pais Dias, and that it was a beautiful tribute to Marco Paulo.

Marco Paulo, the artistic name of João Simão da Silva, is one of the most popular and beloved Portuguese artists, his romantic songs have warmed the hearts of several generations. Born on January 21, 1945, in Mourão, he received more than 140 platinum, gold and silver awards, and even a diamond one, for selling more than a million copies, which was a record in Portugal.

There are many songs that everyone knows, and that’s how this show was born, when Tiago, more than once, going to pick up his son from school, he came humming Marco Paulo’s songs, like so many of us do, even those who They are not even fans of the singer, you can know or remember these songs on the album As nossas canções recorded live at the Altice Arena in Lisbon, or on his most recent work Casa Amarela released in 2022, both reflect his enormous talent and the quality he gave to the music Portuguese for decades.

Recently, it was reported that his health had deteriorated significantly, hence this show, in which SIC joined in a fair tribute, the Portuguese television channel where Marco Paulo has presented several entertainment television programs.

Many figures from SIC joined the event but also figures from music, theatre and beyond, so it was a night full of emotions, in a sold-out room, full of fans who didn’t want to miss the artist’s presence in the room, but also being able to hear him, which despite Marco Paulo’s many reticences, due to his state of health, they ended up being able to, even if only for a few moments.

In this concert, designed by Tiago Pais Dias, without distorting the original themes, he presented them a little more in the rhythm of 2024, rather than Marco Paulo’s reaction in the audience, which was very pleasing.

It was with Marco Paulo in a recorded statement that the concert began, there were several moments with testimonies, some made shortly before the concert, which passed through the screen set up on the stage, João Baião, Diana Chaves, Lena d’Água among others paid tribute, to Marco, which also served to change the scenery or wardrobe of the artists, during the recordings that SIC made for future television broadcast.

It was with one of Marco Paulo’s best-known songs that the concert began, “Eu tenho dois Amores”, which several generations sang and still sing today, followed by some of the many hits of his career, “Joana”, “Nossa Senhora”, “Anita”, “Canção Proibida”, “Tu só Tu”, “Tara e Manias”, “Uma lágrima, um Beijo, uma flor”, “Cá se faz Cá se paga”, “Sempre que brilha o Sol”, “Ninguém, Ninguém” and “Maravilhoso Coração”.

It was then time for Marco Paulo to take the stage, with great difficulty, but with immense joy, a huge smile, and received a huge standing ovation from everyone fortunate enough to be present, Marco thanked everyone, from the guests to friends, fans, musicians, singers and of course Tiago, in a moment of great emotion but also of joy.
