Corteo by Cirque du Soleil is back for magical nights at MEO Arena from 10 to 20 April 2025
This production, directed by Daniele Finzi Pasca, first premiered in Montreal, under the Grand Chapiteau, in April 2005 and has already delighted more than 10 million spectators, in 22 countries, on 4 continents.
Corteo, which means procession in Italian, is a joyful procession, a festive parade imagined by a clown. The show brings together the passion of the actor with the grace and power of the acrobat to immerse the audience in a theatrical world of fun, comedy and spontaneity set in a mysterious space between heaven and earth.
The clown imagines his own funeral in a carnival atmosphere, watched over by silently caring angels. Contrasting the big with the small, the ridiculous with the tragic, and the magic of perfection with the charm of imperfection, the show highlights the strength and fragility of the clown, as well as his wisdom and kindness, to illustrate the piece of humanity that we find within each of us. The music becomes lyrical and playful, leading Corteo through a timeless celebration in which illusion provokes reality.
For the first time ever for Cirque du Soleil, the stage is central to the arena and divides the venue, with each half of the audience facing the other half, providing a unique perspective not only of the show but also of an artist’s view from the audience. An atmosphere never before seen in Cirque du Soleil arena shows. The Eiffel Tower-inspired curtains and hand-painted central curtains lend a grandiose air to the stage, setting the tone for Corteo’s poetry.
