Nokia to recruit 100+ IT experts in Portugal

Nokia announced today at Web Summit plans to open a new IT Center of Excellence and hire more than 100 IT experts. The focus of the center is to accelerate the evolution and adoption of digital technology across Nokia, supporting the company’s strategy.

Nokia is transforming its global operations and building a strong IT capability to better respond to the demands of new business dimensions, such as end-to-end 5G, Cloud and Internet-of-Things networks and services. The company aims to develop a range of inhouse IT capabilities that will bring best-in-class productivity and efficiency to Nokia operations and the needed agility to tackle future opportunities.

In the scope of this transformation, the new Center of Excellence in Portugal will play a global role, bringing together expertise in various domains such as Customer Relationship Management, Enterprise Resource Planning, Cyber Security, Big Data, Agile Development and DevOps, Cloud Solutions, Automation, and Artificial intelligence. Within these domains, Nokia is looking for profiles, such as solution owners and architects, software developers and IT product and project managers. The company seeks to integrate professionals and leaders with three to 10 years of professional experience over the next few months.

“Nokia highly values its operations in Portugal and the talent of Portuguese engineers. This is why we are now investing in the country to create a Center of Excellence that will support the global transformation of Nokia”, said Ursula Soritsch-Renier, Chief Information Officer of Nokia.

The qualification of Portuguese IT professionals, as well as the location of the country in a time zone which allows to simultaneously attend to global needs, determined the decision for Portugal.

“We are looking for high technical competence and the will to make a difference. In exchange, we offer a unique international environment, great working conditions, continuous training, and the opportunity to shape the future of IT”, added the CIO.

Nokia is a leader in network equipment, solutions and services with a strong presence in Portugal, where the company operates another innovation unit in Aveiro, as well as a Global Delivery Center; a service facility that provides highly qualified tools, processes and people to remotely manage networks for some of the world’s leading communication service providers.
