Dead Club City, is Nothing But Thieves’ fourth album released in June 2024, and introduces NOS Alive to a conceptual universe of privilege and alienation, where celebrity culture, social issues, personal relationships and more collide in a metaverse sound. The group, from Southend, emerged from the challenges of the pandemic with relentless creativity, culminating in a project that transcends the traditional dynamics of a band.
The album unfolds like a city-sized members-only club, exploring various stories and connections within its confines. The concept is purposefully open-ended, leaving room for interpretation – is it a mindset, a physical location, another planet, or even the sky? This ambiguity sets the stage for multifaceted narratives that address despair, class dynamics in society, and the search for something new. The band’s decision to self-produce the album resulted in a work that transcends the traditional dynamics of what it means to be a band, presenting a rich and diverse soundwork.
July 11th marks the debut of Nothing But Thieves on the NOS Stage of the 16th edition of NOS Alive.
