New issue of “Egoísta” magazine celebrates Christmas with “The Others”
Inspired by the Christmas season, the magazine “Egoísta” has just launched a new thematic edition dedicated to “Others“. Owned by Estoril Sol, the most awarded Portuguese magazine ever meets again in this special time with its readers, distinguishing itself once again for the excellence of its portfolios.
“The new edition of “Egoistic” celebrates our differences and everything that unites us. It is a reflection on our place in the community and facing each other with texts by Tânia Ganho, Teolinda Gersão, Inês Maria Meneses, Hugo Gonçalves, Paulo Mendes Pinto, Filipa Leal, João Luís Barreto Guimarães, Nuno Artur Silva. We highlight the portfolio of Mário Testino, an international photographer, and Augusto Brázio, Rui Aguiar, Inês d’Orey, Tiago Miranda, Adriana Molder and Jorge Colombo. The design is by Pedro Leitão”, reveals the publisher Patrícia Reis.
Writes Mário Assis Ferreira, Director of “Egoistic”, in the editorial: “Strange paradox this, to approach Loneliness when writing about “Others”… Perhaps because Loneliness does not exist! For when we depart from the world, or the world from it separates us, behold, Solitude is transfigured in a meeting with ourselves and, from this union, results in the spell of a suspended peace over the voracious whirlwind of the daily life that surrounds us. In this reflective peace, there is silence where questions flourish, where humility is kept, and where reason is challenged. Where, after all, our “I” is divided between the Yin and the Yang, between the shadow and the light, between remorse and joy, between uncertainties and presumptions, between longing and reunion.”
“But there are also the others of the Others: those who are our civilizational neighbours, developing the same values, sharing similar ideals of democracy and coexisting in the enjoyment of responsible freedom. And of these, there are, finally, those who physically or spiritually are close to us, that surround us and share with us the affective duality in which this collusion of ego and alter ego is formed. As if in every embrace, in every gesture of solidarity, the “I” expands and perfects… As if it was a light to guide us in the course of life! The ego, as a singular entity, does not exist in a vacuum: it is divided with the Others in reciprocal learning, in an interactive dialogue, in a sharing of feelings and emotions, like a school of life in which the pillars of wisdom are erected and reaches the deep essence of being. In this existential hemisphere lives the Family and nourishes Friendship! A hemisphere that is expanding, in this Christmas season, to many others, needy and unprotected, in hope of faith and hope for a better future. But it is in this area of light and reflection, of deep resonance in the call to affection and solidarity, that rises, in the manger of blessedness, love for the family and attachment to friendship. For if the Family is the foundation of our existence, Friendship is the only place in the world where it is worth living! So be this Christmas!” , concludes Mário Assis Ferreira.
Launched in 2000, the magazine “Egoísta” has already been awarded 94 national and international awards in the field of journalism, design, editing, creativity and advertising, making it the most awarded publication at the European level.
